Hazte Oír intensifies the investigation into those responsible for Puigdemont's escape
Hazte Oír has been the first popular accusation to achieve an investigation into those responsible for Puigdemont's escape
The complaint filed by Hazte Oír has taken a significant turn in the investigation of Carles Puigdemont's escape. In December 2024, the Investigating Court No. 24 of Barcelona admitted the complaint against three agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police). They are accused of having facilitated the escape of the former Catalan president in August of the same year.
Hazte Oír has been the first popular accusation to achieve an investigation into those responsible for Puigdemont's escape. This has caused great controversy and concern in the country. The organization, which filed the complaint in August, affirms that the agents committed the crimes of omission of duty to pursue crimes and cover-ups.
A complaint that didn't go unnoticed
The judge's decision to admit the complaint has been an important milestone in this case. It is based on sufficient evidence pointing to a possible agreement among the agents involved to facilitate Puigdemont's departure from Spain. The complaint was accepted after the December resolution, which recognized the existence of possible irregularities in the actions of the Mossos d'Esquadra.

For the investigation to proceed, Hazte Oír paid the fee required by the court. According to the association's president, Ignacio Arsuaga, those who facilitated Puigdemont's escape will not be allowed to go unpunished.
"We will continue taking all necessary actions to ensure criminal responsibilities are addressed, no matter who goes down," Arsuaga declared. He also emphasized the organization's determination to carry out an uncompromising legal battle.
This case hasn't left the public opinion or the authorities indifferent, all of whom have reacted to the seriousness of the events. Judge Pablo Llarena, who is in charge of coordinating the investigation, has requested explanations from both the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Ministry of the Domestic Affairs about the measures taken to arrest Puigdemont. The investigation will seek to determine if the agents involved acted intentionally and with knowledge that they were helping the former separatist leader escape.
In this regard, Hazte Oír remains firm in its stance and assures that it will continue working in the defense of legality and the demand for justice for all citizens. The association considers this a key moment to demonstrate that justice should not be above the law, regardless of the political position or power of those involved in the cases.
