The news was known by the media before the Executive received an official notification, according to Pilar Alegría.
The Government denounces leaks regarding the indictment of Cristina Álvarez, Moncloa's advisor, in the case related to Begoña Gómez. The news was known by the media before the Executive received an official notification. Pilar Alegría, the Government spokesperson, ironically suggested that she could also be investigated.
The news broke when it was revealed that Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, in charge of the investigation into Begoña Gómez, had indicted the advisor. The indictment is linked to her possible involvement in dealings related to the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) chair. The investigation focuses on a possible crime of influence peddling and business corruption.
Pilar Alegría addressed the issue in a press conference following the Council of Ministers. She emphasized that the Government had learned of the news through the media, which prompted her ironic comment about the leak. The Government spokesperson assured that the leak could also be subject to investigation.

Regarding the case itself, Pilar Alegría expressed full confidence in the judicial system. She assured that the Government is aware that "the truth will prevail" and reiterated that there is no "case" as such. The spokesperson also stressed that the Executive has full confidence in the justice system and that investigations will proceed without interference.
The indictment of Cristina Álvarez, who sent several emails related to Begoña Gómez's private activity, has caused significant media interest. Judge Peinado, who is handling the case, has agreed to direct the investigation against the Moncloa advisor, accusing her of possibly being involved in the investigated crimes.
The judicial order mentions that the facts could constitute a crime of influence peddling and business corruption.

The case of Begoña Gómez has been under scrutiny since it was revealed that her involvement in private activities, allegedly linked to the public university, had triggered a judicial investigation. However, the Government has maintained its stance that there is not enough basis to consider it a corruption case.
Meanwhile, the indictment of Cristina Álvarez has added a new chapter to the judicial process. Authorities are expected to continue with the relevant investigations to clarify the facts. The advisor's involvement in the management of the UCM chair is one of the key points of the investigation.
