EDATV The Generalitat Valenciana is processing more than 22,700 aid applications for totaled vehicles.
The application process for the aid opened on January 17, and in just 11 days, a record number of files have been processed.
The Generalitat Valenciana, through the Conselleria of Finance and Economy led by Ruth Merino, has already granted 22,742 aids to compensate for the loss of vehicles damaged by the floods of last October 29. This swift reply, managed through the Plan Simplifica, has involved the mobilization of 43.1 million euros (approximately 47.3 million dollars), standing out as a model of administrative efficiency.
The application process for the aids opened on January 17, and in just 11 days, a record number of cases have been processed thanks to the coordination between the Conselleria of Finance, the Valencian Tax Agency, and the Directorate General of Administrative Simplification, headed by Francisco Ortega.
Details of the aids
The aids are intended for individuals, regardless of whether they engage in economic activities or not, whose vehicle ownership was insured and has been declared a total loss as a direct consequence of the floods. The amounts are:
250 euros (approximately 274 dollars) for mopeds.
750 euros (approximately 822 dollars) for motorcycles.
2,000 euros (approximately 2,191 dollars) for cars, vans, and similar vehicles.
2,500 euros (approximately 2,739 dollars) for vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Additionally, these aids don't require the purchase of a new vehicle and are exempt from taxation, similar to other measures such as the 100% exemption of the Transfer Tax for the purchase of second-hand vehicles.
Contrast with the central Government
In comparison, the central Government, which announced an aid package last November 27, has barely received 7,500 applications and hasn't processed a single aid to date. This difference, according to the Generalitat, reflects the citizens' trust in the agile and effective processes promoted by the regional administration.
The Generalitat has received more than 60,000 applications in total, showing the importance of these aids to ensure the mobility of those affected and to provide a real reply to the needs arising from the catastrophe.
