García Ortiz Gets the Judiciary to Investigate the Leak of His Data

Complaints arise from the leak of a document attached to the report, which includes private data

Prosecutor García Ortiz Manages to Turn the Tables. The Directorate of Data Supervision and Control of the General Council of the Judiciary has announced that it will investigate the complaints filed by García Ortiz.

Also those of his predecessor, Dolores Delgado, regarding the possible leak of personal information contained in a UCO report.

According to the CGPJ statement, "this Directorate will carry out the necessary actions." All "after receiving the writings from the Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz. And from the Prosecutor of the Chamber Coordinator of the Human Rights and Democratic Memory Unit of the State Attorney General's Office, Dolores Delgado."

The Council also recalled that the supervision of data processing operations for jurisdictional purposes is the responsibility of the CGPJ department.

The complaints arise from the leak of a document attached to the report. It includes private data such as the email, phone number, residence address of García Ortiz, and the mobile contact of his escort, among others.

The Trail UCO Follows to Recover García Ortiz's Deleted Email Account

The case of the Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, remains the talk of the town. The alarming UCO report confirmed what the Government denied: that García Ortiz deleted messages and his email account.

The UCO of the Civil Guard has indicated that the WhatsApp messages from the mobile phone, García Ortiz, were deleted "up to two times" on October 16. The same day the Supreme Court (TS) opened a case against him.

As the UCO report stated, "the lack of messages prior to October 16 on WhatsApp is mainly due to the intentional emptying or deletion. Of all the messages contained in the various conversations, this action being carried out up to two times on the indicated day."

However, García Ortiz's deleted email account is another focus where the UCO is putting its efforts. But the agents are already looking for a way to recover that Gmail account to access that deletion.

Now, the UCO seeks to determine if the Attorney General opened that Gmail account from a device other than his mobile phone. That trail is what the agents are now pursuing to try to find a way to access that deleted account.

If so, and having logged in from another device, the UCO could follow that trace and retrieve everything that appeared in the account.

The Call Where the Judge Focuses

The latest UCO report puts the Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, in check. The truth is that the agents highlight the call to García Ortiz "unrelated to the Prosecutor's Office." Specifically, that of an informant from the Ser network who provided the key data.

On the night of March 13, the agents conclude that "there is no call, nor any attempt at communication," on that date. All from the "terminal of the Attorney General (...) outside the scope of the Prosecutor's Office," with a single "exception."

It is that of the journalist from Ser, Miguel Ángel Campos Peñarroja. The same one who "signs the press article, in the digital edition" of the radio network. At the hours "of 11:51 PM, in which excerpts from the email" of February 2 are published.

Precisely, the email whose "leak is being investigated" in the case opened against García Ortiz.

The last call listed is from the 13th. A list analyzed by the UCO for the professional number of the head of the Public Ministry, and that call was with the chief provincial prosecutor of Madrid, Pilar Rodríguez. Let us remember, co-defendant in the Supreme Court case, at 11:05:28 PM.
