García Ortiz Against the Ropes: The Judge Highlights the Severity of the Crime
The judge highlights the seriousness of the crime just before the attorney general's statement as a defendant next Wednesday.
The Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, faces a rather complex judicial path ahead. After the Supreme Court's decision on the request to postpone García Ortiz's testimony became known, a second blow has struck the prosecutor. The judge in the case emphasizes the seriousness of the offense.
Ángel Luis Hurtado, a magistrate of the Supreme Court, has stated in a ruling dated Monday, January 27, that he considers the case very serious. The judge has made it clear that he views the leak of emails regarding the case of Alberto González Amador, the romantic partner of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, with gravity.
The magistrate in charge of the case has highlighted in a written statement the "breach of confidentiality" that the publication of emails represents. These are the same emails in which the defense of businessman Alberto González Amador proposed acknowledging two offenses.
In his resolution, he explicitly dismisses the idea of "minimizing the significance" of this leak, which has caused controversy in the judicial process. All of this, according to El Confidencial.
The judge's stance responds to the State Attorney's request to postpone the interrogation to conduct other tests before continuing with the procedure. The magistrate also directly addresses one of the main arguments of Álvaro García Ortiz's defense.
The defense maintains that the leak of the emails came from the environment of the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. Specifically, from Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, her chief of staff.
The defense argues that the dissemination of these secret emails had already begun previously, which, according to their argument, would invalidate the accusation of revealing secrets. This is because part of the content was already public knowledge before the reported events.
The case remains at a point of high legal interest, with the leak and its implications as one of the most relevant aspects in the judicial assessment.
Hard Blow to García Ortiz: The Supreme Court Rejects His Request to Postpone His Testimony
The Supreme Court magistrate, Ángel Luis Hurtado, has decided to maintain the testimonies as defendants of the Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz. Likewise, the testimony of the Provincial Prosecutor of Madrid, María Pilar Rodríguez, rejecting the postponement requests submitted by both.
García Ortiz's request to postpone his testimony, scheduled for this Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., was denied. The investigating judge also rejected the Attorney General's proposal to conduct preliminary proceedings before his appearance.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Prosecutor of Madrid, whose testimony is scheduled for this Thursday, also failed to have her postponement request accepted, as established in the judicial resolution.
Both decisions underscore the magistrate's determination to proceed with the proceedings according to the previously established schedule, despite attempts to delay the appearances by those involved.
