The Former Socialist Mayor of Alcalá de Henares Who 'Invents' a Nonexistent Position

PP claims it is 'a crude maneuver to appear influential where it is not.'

His name is Javier Rodríguez Palacios, former socialist mayor of Alcalá de Henares and leader of the PSOE in the municipality. Rodríguez Palacios has been accused of allegedly inventing a position within the party: Coordinator of the Socialist Group in the Congress of Deputies.

As denounced by the local Popular Party, "there is no such position with real responsibilities within the Congress." This information, according to the popular party, can be easily verified. "It is enough to check the official website of the Socialist Group in the Congress of Deputies, where the official positions of the party's leadership in the Lower House are detailed."

According to the deputy spokesperson of the Popular Party in Alcalá de Henares, Orlena de Miguel, the page doesn't show any "coordinator." Nor, according to the spokesperson, any Javier Rodríguez Palacios. According to the popular party, "it is an invented title that only demonstrates the disregard to which he has been subjected by the new socialist leadership headed by Óscar López."

This invention, according to the spokesperson, is "a crude maneuver to pretend influence where there is none. The PSOE of Alcalá is more concerned with feeding egos than solving the problems of the residents. If he really had any weight in his party, his name would appear in the official leadership of the Socialist Group in the Congress, but it is not so."

Palacios's lack of influence in Madrid politics is clear | Europa Press

She adds that, in an attempt to hide the reality, the PSOE of Alcalá de Henares strives to issue bombastic statements that, when analyzed, lose all credibility. The lack of influence of Palacios in Madrid politics is clear, and with his limited role in the new organization of the PSOE, what many already suspected is evidenced. His relevance within the party has plummeted, relegated to a secondary role, the PP points out.

Through the party's social networks, the PP demands the resignation of Rodríguez Palacios, arguing their request by stating that "he has blatantly lied to all the people of Alcalá." They call for an end to "manipulating the citizens," labeling him as "a politician who deceives his neighbors" and, therefore, "doesn't deserve to represent Alcalá."

"If he had a minimum of dignity, he would immediately resign as spokesperson and deputy. Alcalá doesn't deserve a fake opposition, obsessed with inventing titles to pretend what it is not", the statement reads.
