Donald Trump's forceful words during his inauguration
The golden era of the United States begins now
This Monday, January 20, is a historic day in the United States: Donald Trump is inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States. The inauguration ceremony was marked by the tremendous international media impact, however, also by the notable absentees: Michelle Obama and Nancy Pelosi.
During the inauguration ceremony, President Trump delivered an emotional and forceful message to Americans.
The golden era of the United States begins now. From this day forward, we will once again be respected worldwide, and we won't allow anyone to take advantage of us.
Our sovereignty will be reclaimed, our nation will be rebuilt, our security will regain balance. Our top priority will be to create a proud, prosperous, and free nation. The United States will be greater, stronger, and more exceptional than ever before. I return to the presidency with confidence and optimism.
We are on a wave of change, we have the opportunity to seize this opportunity. There are many challenges ahead. Today, our government faces a governance crisis.
From this very moment, the decline of the United States has ended. Freedoms will no longer be mistreated. I've been the president most tested.
I hope my reelection will be the most important in our country's history. We will move forward to restore peace, security, and hope for all citizens.
On the serious issue of illegal immigration, Trump has said he's going to reinstate his "remain in Mexico" policy. He also warned that he's going to fight against the mafias trafficking at the border and will designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. "As commander in chief, I have no greater obligation than to defend my country."
In the middle of his speech, Trump made a nod to the Black and Latino communities:
Thanks to the Black and Latino communities, we've achieved numbers we couldn't have imagined at the beginning of the campaign. We're going to make Martin Luther King's dream a reality today.
In addition to this, he assured that "first, I want to declare a national emergency at the southern border of the country. Every illegal entry will be stopped. Furthermore, we'll begin the process of returning millions of illegal immigrants to where they came from."
I'm going to eliminate the creation of criminal gangs. I have the responsibility to defend our country from threats. We'll do it at a level never seen before. We will overcome and reduce inflation and prices.
Trump also made it clear that he's going to fight against the brutal censorship experienced during the Biden administration.
After years and years of illegal efforts to cut back on freedom of expression, I'm going to sign an order to end censorship and promote freedom of expression.
