The mayor of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco, and the president of the Castellón Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina, have presented the works
The Mayor of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco, and the President of the Legislature of Castellón, Marta Barrachina, have presented the works for the creation of a new parking area near the intermodal station. This project, which will have a total investment of 659,999.99 euros, will allow the construction of 116 spaces in a first phase and will improve mobility in the Crémor neighborhood.
The initiative is part of the Castelló Impulsa Plan, with a contribution of 480,000 euros from the Legislature and 179,999.99 euros from the City Council. The presentation event took place in Plaza de la Merced and was attended by municipal representatives and the educational community of CEIP Jaume I, whose schoolyard could be expanded according to the commitment made by the mayor.
Carrasco highlighted the importance of collaboration between administrations to improve the city and recalled that the intermodal station area is a neuralgic point of traffic in Castellón, with railway connections, urban and interurban buses, as well as the presence of several educational centers.
The President of the Legislature, Marta Barrachina, emphasized the positive impact of this action, not only for Castellón but for the 135 municipalities and 620,000 inhabitants of the province who use the station. "This collaboration is an example of effective management and planned infrastructures to improve people's quality of life," stated Barrachina.
The City Council has announced that before the end of the year a new phase of the project will be tendered, which will expand the urbanization of the area and allow reaching 500 parking spaces with an investment of 1.23 million euros. Additionally, the incorporation of green areas, lighting, bike racks, and electric charging points is planned.
