Castellón has initiated the commemorative programming for International Women's Day, 8M, with the 'Women and Cinema' series, a set of activities aimed at highlighting the role of women in society and advocating for gender equality.
The first event was the screening of the documentary The Yellow Ceiling, directed by Isabel Coixet, which addresses harassment toward women in the educational field. The session, held at the Raval Theater, was attended by Clara Adsuara, president of the Municipal Equality Council, who emphasized the importance of using cinema as a tool for awareness.
The programming will continue tomorrow with the presentation of the Olimpia Award to Encarna Barragán, a recognition of her career in favor of women's rights. Additionally, the awards ceremony for the Women's Story Contest will take place at 12:00 p.m. in the City Hall Plenary Hall.
On Sunday, March 9, the Women's Race will take place, celebrating its XIX edition this year. The sporting event, which has become one of the most popular 8M events, expects to gather more than 4,000 participants. The start will be at 11:00 a.m. from Ribalta Park, and registrations can be made at the Equal Opportunities Service (SIO) and the Sports Board.
The activities will continue on March 15 with the Intergenerational Women's Wellness Day, which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Additionally, on March 17, at 6:00 p.m. in Menador, artist and activist Yolanda Domínguez Rodríguez will give the lecture Changing Images to Change the World, where she will address the influence of media on the perception of women.
The 8M programming in Castellón reaffirms the municipal commitment to equality and the promotion of women's rights, fostering participation and social debate through culture, sports, and reflection.
