Charles Mazón Leads the Push for the Recovery of the Valencian Ceramic Sector

The president of the Generalitat has emphasized a 'change of trend' in the ceramic industry of the Comunitat Valenciana.

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has highlighted a "change of trend" in the ceramic industry of the Valencian Community, with an increase in production and job creation that demonstrates a progressive recovery of the sector. During his visit to Cevisama, joined by the president of the Castellón Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina, Mazón emphasized the industry's "extraordinary resilience" and reaffirmed the Consell's support to ensure its competitiveness at both national and international levels.

Mazón noted that the sector has recorded a 1.2% increase in industrial production during 2024 and a 2.3% increase in job creation in January 2025, which reinforces the perception of a reactivation. Additionally, he highlighted the "good feelings" of the exhibitors at Cevisama, one of the most important international fairs in the ceramic field, which points to a more positive edition than previous ones.

A Ceramic Sector in Transformation

The head of the Consell emphasized the industry's commitment to quality and design, as well as its ability to diversify markets and applications, highlighting the growing use of ceramic material in architectural cladding. Furthermore, he valued the sector's environmental commitment, which has managed to reduce its emissions by 60% in recent years, consolidating its commitment to sustainability.

In this regard, Mazón recalled the 600,000 euros funding from the Generalitat for the international promotion campaign of Spanish ceramics, managed by the Spanish Association of Tile and Ceramic Flooring Manufacturers (ASCER). The initiative, aimed at international prescribers and clients, is "working remarkably well," according to the president.

Support and Financing Strategy

Mazón reaffirmed his government's commitment to the ceramic industry through various support lines, such as the plan to diversify auxiliary sectors like ceramic machinery, which seeks to expand its application in other industries like textiles and plastics. This strategy will be developed in collaboration with the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón.

Additionally, the Generalitat has contributed nearly one million euros to the National and International Buyers Plan of Cevisama, which has attracted more than 800 buyers from key markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. An agreement has also been signed between the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Public Administration and ASCER, endowed with another million euros, to promote innovation, market analysis, and sector training.

Moreover, Mazón highlighted that his government has doubled and even tripled the non-repayable portion in the credit support lines of the Valencian Institute of Finance (IVF) for the ceramic sector, streamlining procedures to facilitate access to financing.

With these initiatives, the Generalitat seeks to consolidate the recovery of the ceramic sector and ensure its sustainability and competitiveness in the global market, reinforcing the position of the Valencian Community as a reference in the ceramic industry.
