Mompó Leads the Study Commission on the Dana in the Legislature De Valencia

The goal is to improve the response to future emergencies

Valencia's Legislature has launched the Non-Permanent Study Commission on the management of the emergency caused by the DANA on October 29, with the aim of analyzing the actions of the provincial entity and optimizing response protocols for similar situations. The president of the Legislature, Vicent Mompó, has emphasized that this review process is not "a sterile exercise in revision, but a firm commitment to learning and continuous improvement".

The first session of the commission, held this Tuesday, focused on the Legislature's communication management during and after the storm. Mompó highlighted that "from minute one, the Legislature has been on the ground", coordinating daily meetings with mayors of the affected areas, providing detailed information on the state of provincial roads and channeling municipal demands to the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI).

The provincial president acknowledged that "some things were done well and others not so much", which is why he insisted on the importance of this commission to develop a "manual of good practices" to serve as a reference in future crises. "Our responsibility is not limited to acting at the moment of the crisis but also to evaluating and perfecting the protocols", Mompó assured, adding that transparency and collaboration are essential pillars in this learning process.

The commission will meet again next Tuesday, with the appearance of the chief inspector of the Provincial Fire Department of Valencia and head of the DANA emergency, José Miguel Basset. In total, the commission will hold six sessions addressing different aspects of emergency management, including water supply, waste management, assistance to municipalities, and the reconstruction of affected areas.

With this initiative, Vicent Mompó reinforces Valencia's Legislature's commitment to improving emergency protocols and citizen safety, ensuring a more efficient and coordinated response in future natural disasters.
