The Brutal Number of Illegal Immigrants Who Have Arrived in Canary Islands in Just Three Days
Most immigrants arrive from two cities in Morocco
Illegal immigration continues to be a hot topic. Since last Monday, the number of illegal arrivals in the Canary Islands has been truly overwhelming. Nearly 1,300 illegal immigrants have arrived on the islands in just three days, leading to the activation of 20 naval deployments, as well as aerial interventions.
This is confirmed by La Gaceta, which states that most of the immigrants who have reached the coasts of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura have departed from Tan-Tan and Tarfaya (Morocco). The lack of control in these areas has facilitated traffickers in organizing the departure of numerous inflatable boats to the islands. A total of 475 immigrants have disembarked in Lanzarote and 60 in Fuerteventura.

According to the media, La Güera, an area near Nouadhibou, has become the main departure point for the cayucos. This is despite many illegal immigrants claiming to have left from Mauritania. The lack of action by Moroccan authorities in this region has been seen in Spain as a gesture of indifference.
From there, most of the boats that have reached El Hierro, with 442 illegal immigrants, as well as others that have arrived in Tenerife (224) and Gran Canaria (32), have set sail.
However, according to the newspaper, in the coming months, favorable weather conditions at sea could increase the number of crossings. This would further exacerbate the migration crisis in the Canary Islands.
The lack of an effective reply from the Government and the limited cooperation with Morocco will allow the departures of boats from Tan-Tan, Tarfaya, and La Güera to continue unchecked. In this scenario, the current situation will not only persist but is likely to worsen.

Vox's Initiative
Vox will bring to the Congress Plenary an initiative to prevent 'squatters' and immigrants in an irregular situation from registering in the municipal census. This proposal seeks to amend the Law Regulating the Bases of Local Regime.
Vox's proposal is based on what they consider a legal "paradox." According to the party, it is inconsistent that acts such as the occupation of homes or illegal residence in Spain allow these individuals to access the census. The measure would affect both those who illegally occupy homes and irregular immigrants.
In the text presented by Vox, it is argued that there is currently no law preventing these individuals from registering in the census. To remedy this, Vox proposes that, to register, a document proving ownership of the home or authorization from the owner be required. Additionally, in the case of illegal immigrants, their irregular status should be explicitly reflected in the census itself.
