Begoña Carrasco Strengthens Castellón's Projection as a Conference Venue

The reception of the XIX Annual Congress of the Society of Internal Medicine of the Valencian Community (SMICV) will be held on May 9 and 10.

Castellón continues to establish itself as a reference destination in conference tourism thanks to the commitment of the government team led by Mayor Begoña Carrasco. The reception of the XIX Annual Congress of the Society of Internal Medicine of the Valencian Community (SMICV), which will be held on May 9 and 10, confirms the municipal strategy to de-seasonalize tourist activity and enhance the economic impact of this type of event.

Carrasco, joined by the Councilor for Tourism, Arantxa Miralles, and the Councilor for Public Health, highlighted the importance of this meeting, which will attract more than 150 specialists. "Since 2008 we haven't hosted this congress in Castellón and its return confirms the growing interest in our city as a venue for professional events," the mayor emphasized.

The first mayor also highlighted the growing number of congresses held in the capital in recent months. "Events like the 31st ANEPMA Technical Conferences, the Congress of the Spanish Association of Water Supply and Sanitation, the 34th CONAIF Congress or the Congress of the Spanish Society of Arteriosclerosis have brought nearly 2,500 people to our city in the past year," Carrasco recalled, highlighting the economic impact this has on key sectors such as hospitality and commerce.

Castellón, a Destination Prepared for Conference Tourism

Carrasco highlighted the attractions that make Castellón an ideal destination for this type of tourism: "We have a privileged climate, a top-level gastronomic offer, exceptional beaches and a vibrant cultural and leisure agenda." Additionally, she emphasized the work of the Castellón Convention Bureau as a key tool to optimize the experience of organizers and attendees of these events.

The mayor also announced the celebration of new meetings for this year, such as the XXI National Congress of Football Supporters' Clubs in June, which is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants. "We will continue working to consolidate Castellón among the favorite destinations for conference tourism and enhance its impact on the local economy," she concluded.
