Begoña Carrasco prepares the tourist season on Castellón's beaches
The mayor of Castellón has met with the Castellón Beach Business Association
The tourist season on the beaches of Castellón presents two major attractions: the remodeling of Ferrandis Salvador Avenue and the second edition of the Wind Festival, recently presented at Fitur, which will attract thousands of visitors.
The mayor of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco, along with the Councilor for Tourism, Arantxa Miralles, has met with the Association of Entrepreneurs of the Beaches of Castellón (Adepla), chaired by Enrico Grossi, to plan the tourist campaign. "Castellón has everything necessary to be a top-level tourist destination. That's why we work together to define the main actions of the season," Carrasco explained.
One of the City Council's priority objectives is the deseasonalization of tourism, betting on public-private collaboration to make Castellón an attractive destination throughout the year. The mayor recalled that in 2024 the beach services were operational during Easter, which allowed the beach bars to open from March, something that hadn't happened for years. "This year we continue in the same line, planning in advance so that everything is ready by Easter," she stated. Additionally, this week the Local Government Board has approved the file for the contracting of seasonal services on the beaches.
Regarding the remodeling of Ferrandis Salvador Avenue, Carrasco highlighted that it is "an essential axis to improve access and enhance our beaches." The work will expand the platform, eliminate the service road, and provide more space for the bike lane. The shower and footwash connections will also be renewed, restrooms will be built, and digital panels with updated information will be installed, as well as charging points for electric vehicles. The project has a budget of 4 million euros (approximately 4.4 million dollars), co-financed by the European Union's Next Generation funds.
Regarding the Wind Festival, Carrasco noted that the event, which in its first edition attracted more than 45,000 people, will be held again on June 7 and 8 on the beaches of Pinar and Gurugú. "In addition to filling the sky with color, it will include children's activities, music, and gastronomy, generating employment and wealth," she concluded.
