Barrachina Promotes a Joint Response to Demand State Aid for the Dana

The president of the Castellón Provincial Council conveys an institutional declaration to the 71 municipalities affected by the torrential rains

The President of the Castellón Provincial Council, Marta Barrachina, will convey to the 71 municipalities affected by the torrential rains the institutional declaration that will be approved this Tuesday in the provincial plenary session. The goal is for each town hall to ratify the agreement in their municipal plenary sessions, reinforcing the demand for the Government of Spain to include the Castellón municipalities in the direct aid of Order TMD/101/2025.

"The union of our voices is key for the Central Government to rectify and address the needs of our province," Barrachina stated.

The institutional declaration, supported by all groups of the Provincial Council, arises after Castellón's exclusion in the order published in the BOE, which grants aid to 75 municipalities in Valencia, 2 in Castilla-La Mancha, and 1 in Andalusia, leaving out more than 50% of the province of Castellón.

Management and Response of the Provincial Council

Although the Provincial Council sent up to three formal requests to the Government on December 4, January 13, and January 24, it has not received a response to date. "We hope this silence ends and that the Government listens to our demands," Barrachina insisted.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Council and the Generalitat have already allocated 40 million euros to mitigate the damage to infrastructure, roads, highways, and water supply networks. "We have acted quickly and will continue to join efforts to ensure the recovery of our municipalities," the provincial president affirmed.

Affected Municipalities

Among the 71 municipalities that have been left out of the aid are Benicarló, Peñíscola, Vinaròs, Morella, Oropesa del Mar, Alcalà de Xivert, Torreblanca, and many others inland, such as Vilafranca, Sant Mateu, Les Coves de Vinromà, or Culla.

The Provincial Council hopes that, with the support of the town halls, the Government will rectify and address the needs of the affected municipalities.
