Alicante Strengthens Its Mediterranean Leadership with the High Patronage of Casa Mediterráneo

Mayor Barçala highlighted: 'With the establishment of the High Patronage, Alicante is consolidated as an international benchmark

The Alicante City Council, under the leadership of Mayor Luis Barçala, has reaffirmed its strategic commitment to Casa Mediterráneo during the establishment of its High Board, held at the emblematic Old Benalúa Station. This event, presided over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, marks a milestone in Alicante's international projection as a bridge between cultures and a driver of cooperation in the Mediterranean.

Casa Mediterráneo, headquartered in Alicante, strengthens its role as a diplomatic and cultural epicenter thanks to the creation of this collegiate body that guides and promotes its activities. The High Board, which will meet annually, integrates a public-private collaboration network that includes key institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Generalitat Valenciana, and the city councils of Alicante, Benidorm, Xàbia, Valencia, La Vila Joiosa, and Santa Pola, along with the Provincial Council.

Mayor Barçala highlighted: “With the establishment of the High Board, Alicante consolidates itself as an international reference, opening Casa Mediterráneo to the business world and the Alicante society to enhance its role in international cooperation and cultural dialogue.” Alicante, a city with deep historical, cultural, and economic ties to the Mare Nostrum, thus assumes a leading role in promoting peace, sustainability, and technological innovation in the region.

The event also served to highlight the participation of leading companies and entities such as Banco Sabadell, AC Marriott, Carmencita, The Ocean Race, and the Network of Technological Institutes of the Valencian Community, strengthening the synergy between the public and private sectors. This strategic alliance will allow Alicante to lead international projects, establishing itself as a hub of diplomacy, culture, and innovation in the Mediterranean.

With this step, Alicante not only reaffirms its commitment to international cooperation but also projects itself as a model of an open, dynamic city connected to the great global challenges of the 21st century.
