Alicante Provincial Council Promotes Sustainable Leisure in the Province
The commitment of the Legislature de Alicante is to provide municipalities with quality spaces for responsible leisure, strengthening the tourism offer.
The Legislature de Alicante has launched a new sustainable leisure space in the town of Planes. With an investment of 60,000 euros, the 'Llavador de Catamarruch' recreational area covers a surface of 10,764 sq. ft. (1,000 square meters) and is equipped with picnic tables, benches, trees, and a barbecue area, thus promoting contact with nature and citizen recreation.
The Deputy for Environment and Energy, Magdalena Martínez, visited the site alongside the Mayor of Planes, Javier Sendra, highlighting the importance of this initiative. "With this significant action, we provide residents and visitors with a renewed and very complete green space with everything necessary to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors," Martínez noted.
The project has included various improvements such as clearing and leveling the land, planting native vegetation, installing urban furniture, creating access points, and placing informational signage. Additionally, a wooden perimeter fence has been installed to preserve the environment.
One of the most notable actions has been the recovery and restoration of an old washhouse located on the plot and its pool, which was in a state of disrepair. "The recovery of this heritage element adds value to the area and reinforces our commitment to the conservation of the natural and historical environment," added the deputy.
Furthermore, the barbecue area features two grills and a specific space for waste management. In line with the commitment to sustainability, the materials used in the construction and furniture include autoclave-treated wood, stone, and recycled and recyclable plastic polymers, thus favoring environmental protection and the circular economy.
This new site represents another step in the commitment of the Legislature de Alicante to provide municipalities with quality spaces for responsible leisure, enhancing the tourist offer and promoting respect for nature.
