Alicante Provincial Council Promotes a Guide to Encourage Healthy Eating

Youth Deputy Loreto Serrano highlights that this initiative aims to promote healthy habits from childhood and adolescence

The Legislature de Alicante has launched the guide How Do You Eat?, an educational publication that aims to raise awareness among young people about the importance of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle habits. In addition to offering nutritional information, the guide addresses topics such as physical exercise, the #bodypositive movement and weight-related stigmas.

The Youth Deputy, Loreto Serrano, highlights that this initiative aims to promote healthy habits from childhood and adolescence, emphasizing the direct influence of diet on physical and mental health. "Our diet is key to well-being and can prevent numerous diseases," she explains.

Prepared by specialists from the Aitana Group at Miguel Hernández University, the guide offers practical information, nutritional advice and a section with resources on centers and associations where young people can receive support. It also has a preventive focus, helping to detect and avoid eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia or orthorexia.

One of the main objectives of How Do You Eat? is to debunk myths about food and reinforce the idea that a healthy relationship with food is essential for overall well-being. It also emphasizes the role of sports and physical activity in a balanced lifestyle.

The publication is free, easy to read and available in Spanish and Valencian. Those interested can request it by sending an email to juventud@diputacionalicante.es.

Serrano has emphasized that this initiative is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda, commitments in which Legislature de Alicante is actively working. "We want this guide to be a useful tool for young people to adopt healthier habits and have access to reliable information," she concludes.
