Warn of the 3 Areas of Spain Where Most Snow Will Fall in the Coming Hours
Snow arrives forcefully today in the northern mountains while the anticyclone dominates much of the country.
As February comes to an end, the weather in Spain presents contrasts. While the anticyclone continues to impose stability in many regions, an Atlantic front begins to make its presence felt in the northwest. This change will bring an increase in cloudiness and precipitation, some in the form of snow in mountain areas.
During the next few hours, the snow will concentrate in three large areas of the northern half, where the snow levels are expected to drop significantly. The Pyrenees, the Cantabrian Mountains, and the northern Iberian System will be the most affected areas, with accumulations that could be significant on the summits.

These Are the Areas Where Snow Will Arrive in the Coming Hours
On Monday, some snowfalls already occurred in the Cantabrian Mountains, although at high levels, above 5,906 ft. (1,800 meters). For today, Tuesday, February 25, snow is expected to gain prominence in the Cantabrian Mountains, the northern Iberian, and the Pyrenees. The snow level will drop throughout the day, ranging between 4,921 and 3,937 ft. (1,500 and 1,200 meters), and even dropping to 2,953 ft. (900 meters) at times.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26, snowfalls will continue to affect the Pyrenees, where they could persist for much of the day. It is also possible that some flakes will fall in other mountains of the far north, with levels ranging between 2,953 and 3,937 ft. (900 and 1,200 meters).

On Thursday, the cold will lose some strength and the snow level will rise to 3,937-4,593 ft. (1,200-1,400 meters) in the Cantabrian Mountains. However, the white element could also appear in the Central System and the northern Iberian, although more sporadically.
Not Only Snow Is Expected, an Atlantic Front Changes the Weather in Northwest Spain
While snow is expected in the mountains in the north, the rest of the country will have calmer weather. The anticyclone will continue to dominate much of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, leaving clear skies or some high clouds.
However, an Atlantic front is approaching the northwest, causing rain in Galicia and the Cantabrian region. In western Galicia, the precipitation may be intense.
In the interior of the peninsula, the situation will be calmer, although the Northern Plateau and the upper Ebro could receive some rain. In the Mediterranean and the south, the environment will remain stable, with some morning fog in the Balearic Islands and the eastern coast.

In the Canary Islands, the trade winds will continue to dictate the weather. Cloudiness is expected in the north of the more mountainous islands, while in the rest of the archipelago the sun will be the protagonist.
As for temperatures, they tend to rise in most of the country, although in the northwest they will drop slightly. In Galicia and the Cantabrian region, the minimums will rise notably, while in the Ebro and the Mediterranean area they could decrease a bit.
Wind will be another factor to consider. Strong gusts are expected in northern Galicia and Asturias, while in the Strait, easterly winds will turn to westerly. In the rest of the country, southwest winds will prevail, especially in coastal areas.
However, in general, the day will be stable in most of the Peninsula, except in the northwest, where the Atlantic front will bring more clouds and precipitation. In Galicia, Cantabria, and the upper Ebro, it will be advisable to carry an umbrella.

Snowfalls will gain presence in the northern mountains, especially affecting the Pyrenees, the Cantabrian Mountains, and the northern Iberian System. The snow level will drop to 2,953-3,937 ft. (900-1,200 meters), leaving a winter landscape on many summits.
In the rest of the country, the situation will be calmer, with mild temperatures and clear skies. An ideal day to enjoy the sun in the Mediterranean regions, while in the north it is time to bundle up and be alert to the snow.
