'Attention': The 3 Areas Where It Will Rain Heavily in the Coming Hours
Persistent rains will once again mark the day in Spain: high risk in the Mediterranean area
Precipitation continues to be the main feature of the day in much of Spain. According to AEMET, the State Meteorological Agency, heavy and persistent rain is expected in various areas, with a special focus on the Mediterranean region.
A Thursday With Rain in Many Areas
The skies will remain mostly cloudy or overcast, and precipitation will spread throughout the country. In the center and south, the rain could be joined by occasional storms, which will increase the likelihood of significant accumulations in short periods of time. In contrast, in the Cantabrian strip, precipitation will be less likely, although some light showers are not ruled out.

The most concerning situation will occur in the provinces of Valencia, Castellón, and Tarragona, "attention to persistent rain." Meteorological models predict water accumulations that could exceed 150 liters per square meter (5.9 in. per sq. ft.) in 24 hours. These persistent rains could lead to water accumulation problems, river and stream rises, and possible flooding in urban and rural areas.
Orange Alerts in the Mediterranean for Rain: Maximum Precaution
AEMET has issued significant risk alerts (orange level) for several localities in the Mediterranean area due to the intensity and persistence of the rain. In Catalonia, the southern area of Tarragona will be one of the most affected. Records could reach 100 liters per square meter (3.9 in. per sq. ft.) in 12 hours, especially in localities closest to the coast.
In Murcia, the greatest concern is focused on the northwest area, where showers could release up to 30 liters per square meter (1.2 in. per sq. ft.) in one hour. They will be especially intense during the morning, before the situation tends to improve.
In the Valencian Community, the storm is expected to hit hard both in the interior and on the coast of Castellón and Valencia. In these areas, precipitation could reach 100 liters (3.9 in.) in 12 hours, posing a significant risk of flooding in streets, roads, and watercourses.

Recommendations in the Face of the Rainstorm
Authorities have recommended taking extreme precautions, especially in areas under orange alert. It is advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay informed through official channels, and not drive on roads affected by water accumulation.
Additionally, the population is advised to check drains and downspouts, secure outdoor objects that could be carried away by the wind, and avoid walking through flood-prone areas.
This rainy environment will continue in the coming days. Meteorological experts emphasize the need to follow weather updates and take preventive measures to minimize risks.
