These Are Calvo Brand Products From Morocco
Social media campaign calls to boycott Moroccan products and targets the Calvo brand
Some time ago, a strong campaign emerged on social media against products from Morocco, arguing that their importation represents unfair competition for Spanish producers.
According to the promoters of the boycott, these products do not meet the strict quality and safety standards imposed by the European Union. This gives them an unfair advantage in the market over domestic products.

One of the main focuses of indignation has been the Calvo brand of canned goods, whose production in Morocco has caused a flood of criticism among Spanish consumers. Many social media users have expressed their refusal to purchase their products. This, after discovering that they carry a Moroccan barcode, indicating their origin outside Spain.

Grupo Calvo, which began its activity in Carballo, La Coruña, is one of the most recognized companies in the canned goods sector. Additionally, it has expanded its presence to several Latin American countries. However, the decision to manufacture part of its production in Morocco has been seen by some as a betrayal of national values and a detriment to the local industry.
The debate around Moroccan production is not new. But it has gained special relevance due to market saturation and the consequent price drop affecting Spanish farmers and producers. Those promoting the boycott argue that companies choosing to move their production to Morocco contribute to this crisis and jeopardize the competitiveness of domestic products.
In response to this situation, various sectors have reiterated the importance of promoting the consumption of local products and demanding stricter regulation on imports. Meanwhile, the campaign on social media gained much support. Revealing a growing concern about the impact of trade policies on the Spanish economy and the preservation of the national industry.
