Warn of a Significant Drop in the Snow Level in Spain: to 2,297 Ft in These Areas
Winter doesn't relent: snow may appear forcefully starting Sunday in several areas of the country
The arrival of cold air and widespread instability will mark the end of the weekend and the start of the next. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has warned that, starting Sunday, snow could make an appearance in different areas of Spain. The snow levels will drop significantly in certain areas.
Snow Level Drop: Down to 2,297 Feet (700 m) in the North
On Sunday afternoon, the snow level will begin to drop sharply in the interior of the northern peninsula, settling around 2,625 feet (800 m), according to AEMET. The situation will continue to worsen during the early hours and morning of Monday. The level could drop even further, reaching 2,297 feet (700 m) in the same areas.

This temperature drop, combined with instability, will favor significant snowfalls in different areas of the country. Especially in the northern mountains and the Northern Plateau.
The accumulation of snow will be more significant during the first half of Monday, when the most notable thicknesses could be recorded in these areas. As the hours pass, the snow level will rise, settling between 4,593 and 5,249 feet (1,400 and 1,600 m) by the end of the day.
Differences in Snow Levels by Area
Not all regions of Spain will experience such a sharp drop in snow levels. For Sunday, AEMET has indicated that in the southeastern peninsula it will be between 3,937 and 4,921 feet (1,200 and 1,500 m), in the rest of the territory it will range between 2,297 and 3,281 feet (700 and 1,000 m). Consequently, snowfalls are expected in the mountains of the eastern peninsula, although snow is not ruled out in other high areas of the country.
Looking ahead to Monday, snow will be more likely in the north of the Peninsula and the Northern Plateau, especially during the early hours of the day. The most significant accumulations could be recorded in these areas.
Although the snow level will gradually rise, it is possible that snow will make an appearance in other high areas of the Peninsula before the cold air loses intensity.

Recommendations for the Storm
In light of the forecasted snowfalls, authorities advise caution on the roads, especially in mountain areas. The accumulation of snow could hinder circulation. It is recommended to check updated weather forecasts and review the condition of the roads before embarking on any trip.
The winter storm will mark the start of the next week. Its evolution will depend on the intensity of the cold air and the arrival of new precipitation. AEMET's updates in the coming days will be key to knowing in more detail which areas will be most affected and the magnitude of the snow episode.
