They Alert All These Areas of Spain: This Is How the Showers Will Be in the Coming Hours

Throughout the day, showers may move across various areas, affecting with varying intensity

This Wednesday, most of Spain will experience a stable day, with pleasant temperatures more typical of late March or early April. However, not the entire country will enjoy clear skies, as some localities might be surprised by irregular showers that will break the apparent calm.

Unexpected Rain in Some Regions

According to experts from Meteored, changes in the weather have appeared in the form of showers in Galicia in recent hours. These have moved toward other points of the peninsular Atlantic slope.

This variable behavior will continue throughout today. It will be with the appearance of evolving clouds that will bring irregular and scattered rains in several regions.

This situation is due to the passage of a weakened frontal system and the presence of a weak DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels), which will move toward northern Africa. Over the Iberian Peninsula, a bit of cold air will remain at altitude. This, along with daytime heat and surface wind convergence, will favor the appearance of convective showers, something unusual in mid-February.

These are more typical of warm and humid times, like spring. Additionally, they are characterized by their short duration and variable intensity. Sometimes joined by storms and winds.

Areas with Higher Probability of Showers

The precipitation will especially affect mountain areas in the center and south of the peninsula. In Andalusia, the showers will make an appearance in Sierra Nevada, the Sierra de Baza, and other points in Granada. More than 15 liters per square meter (15 l/m²) could accumulate very locally.

Other points that could be affected include the Sierra de Segura-Cazorla, the area around the Strait, the Central System, and the Maestrazgo area. Additionally, in territories in the south and the eastern interior, the showers may arrive laden with mud due to the presence of suspended dust.

Light Rain and No Major Accumulations

Despite the occasional instability, the showers will be light and scattered in most cases. Only in mountain areas could there be somewhat more moderate precipitation, but in general, it is not expected to exceed 10 liters per square meter (10 l/m²) in almost any place.

In short, it will be a mostly stable day in Spain, although with the possibility of surprise showers in some areas of the interior and the south. An uncommon phenomenon for this time of year, adding a touch of uncertainty to a day when the weather should generally be calm.
