
These 5 Areas of Spain Are on Alert for Snowfall in the Coming Hours
AEMET has activated the alert for snow accumulation in 5 areas for the rest of the day.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow alert for snowfalls in five autonomous communities of Spain.
Significant snow accumulations are expected in the coming hours in various provinces, especially affecting mountain areas and regions located above certain altitudes.

Five Communities Affected by Snow
In Aragón, the yellow alert has been activated in the province of Teruel, specifically in the regions of Albarracín and Jiloca.
Snow accumulation of up to 2 in. (5 centimeters) is expected in 24 hours. The snow level will range between 2,297 and 2,953 ft. (700 and 900 meters), rising to 4,593 ft. (1,400 meters) from noon. This warning is of low probability and is a continuation from the previous day.
Castilla y León is one of the most affected communities by this alert, with warnings in the provinces of Ávila, Burgos, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria and Valladolid.
The snow level will be above 2,953 ft. (900 meters), with accumulations varying between 0.8 and 5.9 in. (2 and 15 centimeters), depending on the area. For example, in the Central System of Ávila and Segovia, accumulations of up to 5.9 in. (15 centimeters) are expected above 2,953 ft. (900 meters), with the level rising during the afternoon and evening to 3,937 and 4,593 ft. (1,200 and 1,400 meters).
In Castilla-La Mancha, the yellow alert has been issued for the province of Guadalajara. Snow accumulations between 0.8 and 3.9 in. (2 and 10 centimeters) are expected in areas located from 3,281 ft. (1,000 meters) of altitude. The weather situation could complicate traffic on mountain roads and elevated areas.
The Community of Madrid is also under a yellow alert for snowfalls, especially in the Sierra de Madrid. Snow accumulation of up to 5.9 in. (15 centimeters) is expected, with the snow level situated at 3,281 ft. (1,000 meters). Authorities recommend taking extreme precautions when traveling on the mountain roads and avoiding unnecessary travel.
In La Rioja, snow accumulation of up to 2 in. (5 centimeters) is expected in areas located above 2,297 ft. (700 meters). Although the alert is at a yellow level, the population is advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions when traveling through the affected areas.
Other Alerts Activated for Rain
AEMET has also activated alerts for rain on the southern and eastern coast of Andalusia, in Murcia, and on the southern coast of Valencia and northern Alicante.

The heaviest rainfall is located in the Valencian Community. Up to 2.4 in. (60 mm) could fall in 12 hours, but AEMET doesn't rule out that 0.8 in. (20 mm) could fall in just one hour.
In the other affected areas, the forecast is for 0.6 to 0.8 in. (15 to 20 mm) of rain in one hour.
