Goodbye Movistar and Vodafone: Several Reasons Explain the Exodus of Customers to This Operator

The industry giants see how Digi continues to gain customers at their expense, with magnificent results in 2025.

Movistar and Vodafone, along with Orange, continue to dominate the telecommunications sector. However, there is an operator that has managed to attract thousands of new users, especially at the beginning of 2025. This operator is Digi, which, far from being intimidated by the big names, continues to add customers at a dizzying pace.

A clear example of this success is the historic record it achieved in February 2025, reaching more than 132,700 portabilities. That is, users who left their previous operators to join the company. This number is not only impressive but also demonstrates that Digi is gaining ground against its competitors.

In total, in the first two months of the year, it has managed to attract 261,400 new customers through portabilities. This represents an increase of 7% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Movistar and Vodafone Increased Their Prices

This increase is no coincidence. Many of the new users who have decided to switch to Digi have done so because the company has kept its prices stable. Meanwhile, large operators like Movistar and Vodafone raised their rates in January.

The price increase by these companies has been one of the main reasons why customers have opted to switch to the Romanian operator. This Romanian operator has decided not to touch its rates, making it a more economical option.

In addition to maintaining prices, it has incorporated new rates that better adapt to users' needs. At a time when telecommunications prices in Spain have skyrocketed, many people are looking for alternatives that allow them to save without giving up good service.

Narrows the Gap with Vodafone and Movistar

Throughout 2024, Digi closed the year with more than 8.4 million customers, of which 5.68 million were mobile phone users. This growth is largely due to the strategy the operator has followed, focused on offering quality service at low prices. This has allowed it to narrow the gap with the major operators, like Movistar and Vodafone.

One of the keys to success in 2025 is the incorporation of a new television service. Digi's television offering comes to complete its product catalog, making the operator even more attractive to those looking for a comprehensive option. This move places it in a competitive position against the industry's giants.

It is not just the price that attracts new users, but also the quality of service and the transparency it offers. The Romanian operator has managed to position itself as a reliable option. Especially at a time when consumers are increasingly concerned about the costs of their telecommunications services.

As we move forward in 2025, everything points to it continuing to gain ground against Movistar and Vodafone. And everything indicates that it will continue breaking portability records in the coming months.
