Movistar must face the situation: its customers are left without service and demand explanations
Many users of the company were unable to use this application for a few days
In recent days, many Movistar users have been affected by a problem. A few customers lost access to one of the most popular messaging apps in the country: Telegram.
Since January 29, several Movistar fiber network customers began to notice issues when trying to use the app. Initially, the problems were limited to loading images and videos. But as days went by, some couldn't even connect to the app.
This issue hasn't only caused discomfort among users. It has also raised many questions about the origin and cause of the outage.

The problems only affected Movistar's fiber
One of the first observations made was that this error only affected users of the Movistar fiber network. There were no similar problems reported on the company's mobile network.
Additionally, this problem didn't only affect Movistar's direct customers. It also affected those using O2 services, the operator's secondary brand. In other words, the issues were widespread among all Movistar fiber users and associated brands.
Meanwhile, the company's mobile network was functioning correctly.
Many doubts about Movistar's outage
So far, official explanations about what happened haven't been released. This has left many users frustrated and demanding answers. Although some customers reported that connections to Telegram were returning to normal, the problem has persisted for several days.

Several tech portals, like Geeknetic.es, mention that one of the circulating theories is that the outage could have been a "deliberate block" of Telegram. Especially because some of its channels offer free audiovisual content protected by copyright. This type of content could conflict with Movistar's commercial interests.
However, this is just speculation. It was also mentioned that the problem might have been caused by an "involuntary block" from some of the network's nodes or peering centers. These centers are points where different operators' networks interconnect and can cause problems if there are technical failures.
What is clear is that many Movistar users are very upset and demanding explanations. Numerous complaints from customers who don't understand why such an essential service stopped working can be read on social media. The lack of transparency and clearer communication from the company has only increased uncertainty and discontent among those affected.
Not all the operator's customers have been affected by this problem. But the incident has been widespread enough to generate a significant reaction in the user community. The company needs to provide a clear explanation of what happened to regain its customers' trust.
