It's Official: Movistar Breathes a Sigh of Relief After Learning It Has More Than Expected
Movistar can boast of leading pay television in Spain, consolidating its role at the top.
In the world of pay television, Movistar continues to demonstrate that it's in an unbeatable position, and the latest figures confirm it. Movistar Plus+, the operator's pay television platform, remains the most watched in Spain. Not only that, but it has managed to strengthen its leadership, making it clear that it continues to be the favorite among Spaniards.
According to the latest data from Kantar Media, Movistar Plus+ has achieved a 0.42% audience share. This places it in the top position in the pay television ranking, surpassing all its competitors. It achieves a spectacular growth of 0.21% compared to the same month of the previous year.
This increase, although it seems small at first glance, is a reflection of Movistar's constant evolution and adaptation. It tries to give the public everything they demand.

The report highlights that pay television in general has experienced a slight increase, reaching an 11.38% market share. This growth of 0.5% compared to January 2024 shows that despite the strong competition, it remains a benchmark. Although the landscape of digital platforms is increasingly complex, it has managed to maintain its leadership through a varied and constant offering.
Why Movistar television is so successful
The secret to this success seems to lie in Movistar Plus+'s ability to offer exclusive and quality content. Over the past few years, the platform has strongly invested in sports rights, especially in soccer, and this is reflected in its leadership.
However, Movistar has also made an effort to diversify its offering, betting on world-renowned productions in both the film and series worlds. This has managed to captivate a very diverse audience.

Nobody can overshadow Movistar Plus+
In this context, the competition closely follows Movistar. In the second place of the pay television ranking is LaLiga TV by M+, with a 0.29% audience share. Although this channel has experienced a 0.17% drop compared to the previous month.
It must be said that this decline is understandable. LaLiga TV depends greatly on the stage of the competition we are in, which can influence its audience figures.
The truth is that January has been an excellent month for Movistar Plus+, and the expectations for the rest of the year are high. However, it remains to be seen if the platform will be able to maintain these positive results in February. The competition doesn't sleep, and services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or Disney+ remain strong rivals.
