Important notice from BBVA to all who use their ATMs: you need to watch out for this
Withdrawing money from ATMs with a BBVA card may involve paying various fees.
BBVA has informed its customers about the use of ATMs. The banking entity has emphasized the importance of knowing which ATMs allow cash withdrawals without incurring fees. It is important to note that these fees can vary depending on the ATM and the country of use.
Thanks to its international coverage, BBVA customers can withdraw cash at any ATM that accepts debit or credit cards around the world. This flexibility is a significant advantage for those who travel frequently or conduct international transactions. However, it is essential to consider the fees that may apply, depending on the ATM and the geographical location.
BBVA Warns about ATM Fees
Withdrawing money from ATMs with a BBVA card can involve different fees depending on the type of transaction. Fees also depend on the ATM used and the country you are in.
With a debit card, no fees are applied for withdrawing cash from the bank's own ATMs. However, fees are charged at ATMs of other entities. In this case, a fee established by the ATM owner is charged.
With a credit card at any ATM, a fee of 4% of the amount withdrawn is applied, with a minimum of 4 euros. Additionally, if you use ATMs of other entities, you must pay the additional fee established by the ATM owner.
In addition to the ATM usage fee, BBVA may charge a currency conversion fee. It is generally around 4.5% with a minimum of 3.5 euros for debit cards and 5% with a minimum of 3 euros for credit cards.
It is important to remember that the exchange rate applied by BBVA when exchanging currencies may include a markup. This means that the real value of the money may be lower than the market average rate.
BBVA's Recommendations to Minimize Fees
To avoid unpleasant surprises when using ATMs, BBVA recommends its customers use BBVA ATMs whenever possible. This way, you will avoid additional fees for using third-party ATMs.
Or also plan your withdrawals. Conduct all necessary transactions in a single visit to the ATM to minimize the number of transactions and, consequently, the fees. Before traveling, inform yourself about the applicable fees in the countries you will visit.
Whenever possible, use debit cards instead of credit cards to withdraw cash. In this case, the fees are usually lower.
