Sam's Club distances itself from Costco and makes an important decision in the USA
Sam's Club's strategy surprises by differentiating itself from other major U.S. chains on a key date
In the coming weeks, many Americans will face a day of widespread closures in retail. As a marked date on the calendar approaches, some consumers are wondering which stores will remain open so they can plan ahead. Among the affected supermarkets are Costco and Natural Grocers, two of the country's best-known chains.
It will be Monday, May 26, Memorial Day, when nearly 800 stores from two major chains will completely close their doors. Costco and Natural Grocers have confirmed they will not open on this special day, which honors the soldiers who gave their lives for the country. Meanwhile, Sam's Club has chosen a different path and will serve the public during this holiday.

Sam's Club Will Open While Costco Closes
Costco has decided to keep its tradition of closing on the most significant holidays, as it already does on Thanksgiving or Christmas. Therefore, its stores will remain closed on May 26, according to The Sun. The Natural Grocers chain will follow the same example and will not open its more than 162 stores spread across 20 states either.
The company considers it a show of commitment to its employees: "We live and breathe family. At the end of the day, it's the people we love who make everything worthwhile," they explained in a statement. They added: "We also believe that's the best part of the holidays: an opportunity to spend time with loved ones."
Sam's Club will keep its doors open and operate with special hours, Plus plan members can access from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. While Club plan members will do so from 10 a.m. With this decision, the Walmart-owned chain positions itself as one of the main alternatives for those who need to shop that day.

Walmart And Target Will Also Be Available
Not only Sam's Club has chosen to continue its operations on Memorial Day. Walmart, its parent company, will also operate normally on May 26. Additionally, Target has confirmed it will be open, thus offering another option for consumers during the holiday.
This measure will allow shoppers to avoid the inconveniences of other store closures. Especially on a day when many people take the opportunity to shop or stock up for family gatherings.

However, not everything will be available. Essential services like FedEx and UPS will suspend most of their operations that Monday. In the case of FedEx, Express and Freight services will be halted for 24 hours, although physical offices will operate with modified hours.
UPS will also stop its deliveries and pickups, although it will keep its UPS Express Critical service running. "We recommend calling 1-800-714-8779 for more information on how to access this service," the company noted.
