Eggs are one of the most common products in the kitchens of all Spanish households. Their versatility and easy access have made this food a staple in our diet.

In this context, free-range and organic egg brands have gained popularity, as consumers seek healthier products. They trust these eggs come from hens with better treatment, being raised on the ground. However, the price difference between brands is considerable.

With so many supermarkets and brands available, the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) wanted to review and analyze which of them meet the highest quality standards. In their latest report, they have pointed out the worst eggs in supermarkets in Spain.

These Are the Worst Supermarket Eggs, According to the OCU

The OCU has analyzed 30 brands of fresh eggs in different supermarket chains in Spain, including free-range and organic products. Despite the wide variety of prices, the results have been surprising. The organization concludes that, although prices vary, the quality of the products remains quite consistent overall.

In particular, Alcampo's free-range eggs have been rated as the worst in supermarkets in Spain. The OCU has emphasized that these eggs "do not meet the quality standards that consumers expect."

According to experts, the subsidiary of the French group Auchan has not managed to offer a product that guarantees the trust sought in this type of food. Alcampo's free-range eggs have not convinced in terms of freshness, taste, and appearance, essential elements when choosing a product of this type.

The Key Is in the Lack of Consistency

According to the OCU, the main problem with Alcampo's free-range eggs is the lack of consistency in quality. Although the eggs of this brand are presented as an affordable option for consumers seeking a more ethical and sustainable alternative, they do not meet expectations in terms of taste and freshness.
