Who Will Be María Jesús Montero's Replacement in Ferraz?

Pedro Sánchez is already considering a name for the new changes in the hard core of Ferraz

The President of the Government and leader of PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, allegedly plans a restructuring in the party's leadership core ahead of the next Federal Committee, scheduled for April. One of the most notable moves being considered is the replacement of the Deputy Secretary-General and First Vice President of the Executive, María Jesús Montero.

Montero, who has held the position of "number two" in PSOE since 2022 after replacing Adriana Lastra, recently assumed the leadership of the party in Andalusia. Although she initially demanded to maintain her influence in the national leadership to accept this new challenge, her continuity in Ferraz is now in doubt.

According to Vozpópuli, one of the main candidates to replace her would be Pilar Bernabé, the current Federal Secretary of Equality and Government Delegate in the Valencian Community. With this possible adjustment, Sánchez seeks to strengthen the party's structure and reinforce its strategy in the face of upcoming political challenges.

Sánchez plans a significant change in PSOE's leadership, with the possible appointment of Pilar Bernabé, the current Government Delegate in the Valencian Community, as part of his inner circle. With this move, Sánchez aims to reward one of the most controversial leaders, especially for her role in managing the DANA that affected the Spanish Levante, where more than 220 people lost their lives.

In recent weeks, there has also been speculation about the possibility of Bernabé being a candidate for PSOE in the Valencian Community. | Redes sociales

In December, Sánchez had already promoted Bernabé by appointing her Secretary of Equality in PSOE's Federal Committee. This occurred during the 41st Federal Congress in Seville.

Her entry into the socialist leadership was one of the great surprises, as it led to the departure of Diana Morant, Minister of Science, Innovation, and Universities and leader of PSPV, from the party's federal leadership.

In recent weeks, there has also been speculation about the possibility of Bernabé being PSOE's candidate in the upcoming regional elections in the Valencian Community.

If this scenario is confirmed, she would have to compete with the current leader of PP in the region, Carlos Mazón. Although this decision will ultimately be made in primaries.
