This Is How Complutense Embarrasses Begoña Gómez

Supposedly, Complutense claims there is no record of recommendation letters for Barrabés

Begoña Gómez continues to make headlines in the media. On December 18, Pedro Sánchez's wife stated before Judge Peinado information that, supposedly, the Complutense University itself has denied. More specifically, that the letters of recommendation addressed to Juan Carlos Barrabés were requested from the Complutense University, dismissing having signed them on her own behalf.

This is how Okdiario explains it. Supposedly, according to a report from the Complutense, there is no record of any document related to letters of recommendation for Juan Carlos Barrabés. This businessman and innovation specialist was linked to the Chair of Competitive Social Transformation, led by Begoña Gómez.

Supposedly, according to the newspaper, thanks to the letters of recommendation, Barrabés seemed to have an advantage, achieving a score of 9.23, much higher than his 17 competitors. The evaluators, as the media reports, highlighted his proposal. They described it as "a great formulation of the objective, aimed at facilitating access to employment for young people with more difficulties, especially women".

Begoña's Advisor

Cristina Álvarez, an assistant at Moncloa, appeared this Wednesday before Judge Juan Carlos Peinado, stating that she was unaware of the reasons for her indictment and, therefore, could not testify. This stance is reminiscent of the one adopted by Begoña Gómez in her first court summons on July 5.

After the hearing, Álvarez, joined by her lawyer, went to the court's secretariat in search of more information about her situation. She then returned to the magistrate, but just a few minutes later left the court without giving testimony.

Her presence in the courts was not new. On December 20, as a witness, she had admitted before Judge Peinado to being the author of the emails addressed to Reale Seguros. In them, she expressed Begoña Gómez's desire for the insurer to continue sponsoring the Extraordinary Chair, which she herself co-directed.

She explained that her intervention was not part of her official duties but was done as a personal "favor" to a friend. She also emphasized that her role as an assistant is limited to constantly managing Gómez's schedule.

In the order that modified her procedural situation, Judge Peinado indicated that the proceedings carried out so far pointed to her involvement. Along with her testimony, it could "infer her participation" in crimes of influence peddling and business corruption, the same ones for which Begoña Gómez is being investigated.
