They Propose That the 17-Billion Debt Relief to Catalonia Be Paid by PSOE Voters
Social media has already started a campaign to demand that those who voted for PSOE be the ones to pay for the cancellation
Leader of Esquerra Republicana Oriol Junqueras announced on Monday that his party has reached an agreement with the Government of Spain. All to reduce by 22% the debt that the Generalitat has with the Regional Liquidity Fund (FLA). This cut amounts to 17.104 billion euros.
The truth is that the news has sparked a great and strong discussion on social media. Users have quickly lashed out against the Government and particularly against Pedro Sánchez for once again "kneeling" to the demands of the independence movement.
However, if there is something that has gone viral, it has been the request from some users for PSOE voters to be the ones to pay that forgiven debt.
The viral tweet urges:
"Those who vote for PSOE, why don't you pay the 17,000,000,000 euros that have been forgiven to Catalonia from your damn pocket? It comes to exactly 2,350€ each."

It should be remembered that PSOE obtained 7,760,970 votes in the last elections.
Undoubtedly, the proposal has had a great impact on social media and it hasn't taken long for this proposal to be spread and highlighted. The truth is that it is difficult to find someone on social media who supports this forgiveness from the Government to Catalonia.
The Announcement of ERC
According to what was communicated by ERC, the measure will be approved next Wednesday at the meeting of the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council. It will be where the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, will address issues related to regional financing with the communities. Subsequently, it will be debated in the Congress of Deputies.
Junqueras trusts that the proposal will succeed in both instances and believes that, except for PP and Vox, the parties will not oppose the measure.

The debt reduction was part of the negotiations between ERC and the central government during Pedro Sánchez's investiture process. Initially, the agreement between Sánchez and the former Catalan president Pere Aragonès contemplated a relief of 15 billion euros. That is, 20% of the debt, but the figure has been increased.
"It is evident that we have achieved a greater benefit than was initially agreed," Junqueras highlighted.
The republican leader emphasized that the forgiveness of 17.104 billion euros is equivalent to the annual investment of the Government in key sectors. These include health, education, universities, and research.
Additionally, it represents 19.9% of the total debt of the Catalan administration, which amounts to approximately 2,300 euros per citizen. And about 9,200 euros for an average family of four members. "It's as if we were freeing Catalan families from the cost of a mortgage for an entire year," he explained.
Despite this agreement, ERC has made it clear that they will not support the General State Budgets for 2025. They will reject it both in Catalonia and at the state level.
