HazteOir's Suspicions About Sánchez's Brother's Resignation ''There Are Certain..''

Sánchez's brother has resigned as head of the Performing Arts Office of the Badajoz Provincial Council. His resignation comes amid a judicial investigation into possible irregularities in his hiring. The organization HazteOir, which is acting as a popular prosecutor in this case, believes that this resignation "proves that, indeed, there are certain irregularities."

The investigation began after a complaint filed by Manos Limpias, which was later joined by the Popular Party and Vox. Possible crimes of prevarication, influence peddling, and embezzlement related to David Sánchez's hiring in 2017 are being investigated.

HazteOir's lawyer, Javier Pérez-Roldán, has pointed out that Sánchez's resignation "proves that, indeed, there are certain irregularities" in this case. He also indicated that "it is more than evident" that an oral trial will be opened.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of Human Resources of the Badajoz Provincial Council, Ramón Díaz Farias, has stated that David Sánchez wouldn't have withstood the media pressure he experienced. Díaz Farias highlighted the positive impact of the Ópera Joven program, created under Sánchez's direction, and assured that the program will continue.

The position held by David Sánchez will be announced again under the same conditions, and the Ópera Joven program will be tendered again for 2025. Díaz Farias expressed gratitude and support to Sánchez for his work, lamenting that the cultural industry is afraid to participate in the program due to media scrutiny.

In January 2025, David Sánchez stated before the judge that he found the job offer online and that he had no prior relationship with the conservatories where he now coordinates activities. The President of the Provincial Council, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, stated that he didn't know Sánchez before his hiring and that it was done properly.

The investigation continues, and it is expected that the next procedural steps will be determined in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Badajoz Provincial Council is working on reorganizing the Performing Arts Office.

Sánchez's brother continues to cause a stir, even after his resignation. José Ramón Suárez Arias holds the position of Head of Human Resources and Internal Regime at the Badajoz Provincial Council. This Friday he has testified as a witness in the investigation into the alleged favoritism toward David Sánchez, brother of the Prime Minister.

According to Okdiario, he made statements that didn't go unnoticed. "Normally, an administrative position doesn't become a senior management position," something that "doesn't make sense," he assured, according to the media. And the high-profile position acquired by the musician, who was allegedly chosen 'by hand,' has given much to talk about.

It is important to emphasize that this position was questioned by the judge conducting the investigation, Beatriz Biedma. In an order, the magistrate assures that "everything seems to indicate that the position was created to be assigned to Mr. Sánchez," she explains. Thus, emphasis is placed on "the unnecessary nature of his functions very soon, as it was not arranged for him to be replaced by another worker during his leave and paternity leave."

In addition, she points out that "the existing indications of criminality have been corroborated by the investigative procedures already carried out." The judge theorizes that, from the beginning, there is favoritism toward Sánchez's brother.
