Congress Journalists Unite to Point Out Edatv

The hypocrisy of Congress journalists: they ask not to point fingers while attacking EDATV

Journalists from the Congress of Deputies have gathered at the iconic Lions' Gate with signs that say: "Pointing Out Is Not Journalism." A slogan that is quite curious, as it has been these same journalists who have pointed out EDATV workers over the past years.

The protest was triggered after portraying LaSexta journalist Irene Rupérez, who ordered a Congress cameraman, paid with public funds, not to film our journalist. In the video, it is clearly heard when Rupérez tells the cameraman not to film Vito Quiles, who was asking questions to Minister Ángel Víctor Torres. A truly regrettable behavior by a worker from a private media outlet trying to censor a journalist who doesn't share her editorial line.

Despite Irene Rupérez's evident irresponsibility, instead of apologizing for frustrating a colleague's work, she preferred to lash out at him, pointing him out for reporting what happened. Meanwhile, the rest of the Congress journalists joined the LaSexta journalist, who, as usual, published a statement from the Parliamentary Journalists Association. And in addition to the statement, which is not the first they have made against EDATV, today they decided to protest at the Lions' Gate.

But, won't they remember that they were the first to point their finger at the EDATV journalists? | EDATV

The Congress journalists, in a desperate attempt to defend the indefensible and expel EDATV from the Lower House, have stood with signs that say: "Pointing Out Is Not Journalism." But, don't they remember that they were the first to point their finger at EDATV journalists?

The truth is that this systematic harassment against EDATV workers is not an obstacle for our journalists to continue attending the Congress of Deputies. This media outlet will continue to show up to ask the questions that none of those journalists dare to ask.

It is nothing new that they want to expel EDATV from the Lower House. The journalists from this outlet have become extremely uncomfortable for politicians who are used to the soft questions from the big complacent media. Despite this, from EDATV we will continue to fight the cultural battle and ask the questions that no one else dares to ask.
