This is how a Moncloa official "advised" Sánchez's brother in a 2022 email
A worker from Moncloa was addressing David Sánchez as "Dear little brother"
Sánchez's brother follows in Begoña Gómez's footsteps. While the wife of the President of the Government had an advisor from Moncloa, Sánchez's brother acted similarly.
Specifically, David Sánchez contacted Luis María Carrero, a Moncloa official. He did so with the aim of having his operas funded with European funds.
The UCO found these emails in their investigation, and they confirm that the official advised Sánchez's brother. It's important to note that he had no connection with the Diputación de Badajoz.
Months after the relationship between the two began, Carrero requested to be transferred to the provincial corporation of Badajoz.
It's surprising how this official was on the tightrope at Moncloa, as indicated in the affectionate email to the "little brother." In fact, in 2022, he started his email like this: "I'm waiting to see if they kick me out of Moncloa this week."
However, the most notable thing about this email is how he advised Sánchez's brother to apply for European funding for his projects.
"I'm sending you three little things related to what we've talked about these days." In addition to this, he provided the guidelines to follow: "Right now there are three budget calculations, and that can't be the case for what's coming in the next two weeks."
The entire conversation is under the context of the Operegrina program. This was a collaboration agreement that the Ministry of Culture signed with the Diputación de Badajoz on April 12, 2023. This program included the injection of European funds for the Office of Performing Arts, the entity directed by Sánchez's brother.
An Official's Email to Sánchez's Brother
Judge Beatriz Biedma, in charge of instruction number 3 of Badajoz, has recovered an email from June 2022 sent from the Palacio de la Moncloa.
In this message, a Moncloa worker addresses David Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, artistically known as David Azagra, as "Dear little brother."
The content of the email suggests a close relationship between the two and mentions a joint cultural project.
This finding has reignited the investigation into Azagra's hiring as coordinator of activities for the conservatories of the Diputación de Badajoz in 2017.
The initial complaint, filed by Manos Limpias in June 2024, accuses Azagra of embezzlement, arguing that he obtained the position due to his relationship with the President of the Government.
David Azagra has defended his hiring, stating that he found the job offer online and had no prior relationship with the conservatories where he now coordinates activities. Additionally, he has pointed out that the complaint lacks clear evidence and that he fulfillled the assigned tasks adequately and diligently.
For his part, the President of the Diputación de Badajoz, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, has also testified as a person under investigation. Gallardo has assured that he didn't know David Azagra before his hiring and that it was carried out in accordance with the law.
Judge Beatriz Biedma has requested the Diputación de Badajoz to provide the job description of David Azagra during his employment period. This request aims to clarify the responsibilities and tasks performed by Azagra in his position.
The investigation focuses on determining whether David Azagra's hiring was conducted legally. Additionally, if there was any favoritism or influence peddling due to his relationship with the President of the Government.
