Ribera Salud Boosts Research Led by Women

Ribera Group highlights the essential role of women in the advancement of medical research

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Ribera Salud highlighted the essential role of women in advancing medical research. The group's female researchers participate in or lead innovative projects that directly impact patients' health, from the use of immunotherapy to the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the early diagnosis of diseases.

Through the Ribera Salud Foundation, the group has given a significant boost to research in recent years, with 55 active clinical trials in 2023 and the participation of more than 650 people. Researchers like Carmen Mogio, an expert in immunotherapy at Ribera Povisa, or Magda Palka Kotlowska, an oncologist at the University Hospital of Torrejón, lead studies addressing cancer prevention and the impact of sports on patient survival.

Amparo Santamaría, head of Hematology at the University Hospital of Vinalopó, researches the prevention of thrombosis in cancer patients using AI, while Dolores Corbacho, a specialist in Pneumology at Ribera Povisa, explores the potential of AI in the early detection of lung pathologies.

Despite the progress, the researchers agree on the need for greater female representation in leadership positions, more resources for research, and the implementation of measures that facilitate work-life balance. Ribera Salud is committed to making their achievements visible and fostering scientific vocations among young women, promoting diversity of perspectives as a driver of progress.

With this commitment, Ribera Salud not only promotes gender equality in science but also contributes to more innovative, diverse medicine focused on improving patients' quality of life.
