Pedro Sánchez's New Gift to Morocco That Outrages Spaniards
In the last Council of Ministers, a repayable credit of up to 754,302,566 euros was approved to support the acquisition of up to 40 intercity trains by Morocco.
The Government of Pedro Sánchez has caused controversy after announcing a new financial aid to Morocco. In the latest Council of Ministers, a repayable credit of up to 754,302,566 euros was approved.
This financing will be granted to Morocco through the Fund for the Internationalization of the Company. The objective is to support the acquisition of up to 40 intercity trains by the Moroccan National Railways Office.
The Spanish Government has emphasized that this initiative will allow Spanish companies to actively participate in the supply and development of railway material in Morocco.
However, the news has not been well received by many Spaniards, who question why the Executive continues to allocate huge amounts of money to Morocco while internal problems persist.
Spending in Morocco Amid Shortages in Spain
In parallel to the aid to the railway sector, Sánchez has allocated almost three million euros to the rehabilitation of the Spanish Hospital in Tangier. This center, with a deficient structure and seismic risk in the city of Tangier, will receive 2.7 million euros for its remodeling.
It is argued that this expenditure is necessary to ensure the safety of the center's users. Nevertheless, citizens have expressed their outrage upon seeing that the Government allocates such an amount of money to a hospital in Morocco. Meanwhile, health centers in Spain continue to deteriorate.
The facilities of the General University Hospital of Albacete and other Spanish hospitals remain in poor condition. The criticism focuses on the fact that the money should be invested in improving healthcare infrastructure in Spain. Instead of sending resources to a neighboring country.

Repeated Gifts to Morocco
This new expenditure adds to other previous gifts to Morocco. In November 2021, the Government of Pedro Sánchez approved a subsidy of 500,000 euros through the CSAI Foundation.
This project, called "Support for the Improvement of Access to Care and the Organization of Health Services in Morocco." Seeks to implement a system of family and community medicine in the neighboring country.
The subsidy will be used to improve the managerial and clinical skills of health professionals in Morocco, in addition to funding activities in the country's health centers.

However, this new financial aid of almost 500,000 euros has caused discontent among Spaniards. Especially when the national healthcare system continues to face serious challenges.
Instead of using resources to strengthen the Spanish healthcare system, the Government continues to allocate significant sums to initiatives abroad. Which has caused outrage in a context of internal healthcare crisis.
