Nayara Arroyo, Boxing Champion and Example of Overcoming with the Help of the Ribera Group
She is the first protagonist of the 'Stories that Unite Us' project, an initiative by the Ribera healthcare group to highlight the importance of sports and health.
Nayara Arroyo's story is proof that determination and discipline can make a difference in an athlete's life. The Spanish boxing champion and member of the Spanish national team has faced challenges both inside and outside the ring, and today she has become the first protagonist of the "Stories That Unite Us" project, an initiative by the Ribera healthcare group to highlight the importance of sports and health.
Arroyo, a native of Cartagena, reached the pinnacle of national boxing despite a severe shoulder injury that forced her to make a difficult decision: to forgo the Olympic Games to prioritize her recovery. Her confidence in the medical team at Ribera Virgen de la Caridad Hospital was key in her process. Under the supervision of surgeon Pedro Martínez Victorio, she underwent an operation that was a resounding success, allowing her to gradually return to training.
But Nayara's battle didn't end there. Once recovered from her injury, she decided to tackle another issue affecting her performance: gingivitis caused by a dental malocclusion. "My gums were bleeding, and that could be a problem in the ring, as a bloodstain in the mouth could stop a fight," the athlete explains. Her confidence in the specialists at Ribera Dent led her to start an invisible orthodontic treatment that is already yielding positive results.
Nayara Arroyo's testimony embodies the spirit of "Stories That Unite Us," a project that seeks to highlight the experiences of overcoming challenges by athletes in the Region of Murcia. With her story, the boxer reinforces the idea that health is the essential pillar of sports performance and that having specialized professionals makes a difference in an athlete's life.
