Mayor Carrasco highlights Castellón city's cultural identity
The chapel of the 'Tres Caigudes' gains relevance in the renovated Forn del Pla square
With the purpose of highlighting Castellón's cultural identity and giving greater recognition to one of its most deeply rooted traditions, the City Council has decided to move the chapel of 'Tres Caigudes' to the center of the park located in the Forn del Pla square. The Urban Planning Councilor, Sergio Toledo, has announced that the pedestrian access to the chapel will be named 'Carreró de les Tres Caigudes'.
Improvements in the historical area
The remodeling works in the city center, driven within the framework of the implementation of the Low Emission Zone, continue to progress. This initiative, which must be applied by all cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, aims to improve mobility, reduce pollution, and increase green spaces.
In this context, San Roc street is about to complete its transformation, with the incorporation of sleepers in the garden areas, the installation of tree grates, and the placement of new signage.
In Forn del Pla square, the councilor has highlighted the importance of reinforcing the value of the chapel, where the traditional act of 'Les Tres Caigudes' takes place. "We have worked on expanding the square and improving the surroundings, which has allowed us to relocate the chapel in a central space, giving it the prominence this tradition deserves," Toledon'ted.
Coordination with the Brotherhood
The relocation of the chapel has been carried out in close collaboration with the Brotherhood of the Purísima Sangre, to which it belongs, and with its Elder Brother, Miguel Ángel Mulet. According to Toledo, this new location seeks to enhance the act that takes place on the third Sunday of Lent, during the Magdalena festival, when the brotherhood members and participants in the pilgrimage pay homage to the Cross.
Preparations on Sant Blai street
Meanwhile, the City Council has completed the work on Sant Blai street, coinciding with the festivity of one of Castellón's patrons. Planters with new plantings have been placed, and the lighting has been reviewed so that the area shines in its full splendor during the commemorative events held from February 2 to 5.
Investment with European funds
All these actions are part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, financed with the Next Generation European funds, which seeks to modernize and make Castellón's urban environment more sustainable.
