The high-ranking official from Moncloa who was responsible for 'ensuring the safety' of Begoña Gómez
Pedro Sánchez's government is cornered by the 'Begoña Gómez case'
The 'Begoña Gómez case' is closing in on Pedro Sánchez's government. Yesterday, the Moncloa advisor was charged in the case involving the wife of the Prime Minister, and she must testify as a suspect soon. Additionally, it has been revealed who was the senior official at the presidential palace responsible for "ensuring the security" of Begoña Gómez when she went to the Assembly of Madrid to testify.
The government has confirmed that the Secretary General of the Presidency, Judith Alexandra González, attended Begoña Gómez's appearance at the Assembly of Madrid on November 17. This was with the aim of "ensuring her security." This was reported by the digital outlet The Objective.

González's participation in the event has raised questions about the role of the Presidency in the appearance of the wife of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. As well as about the use of public resources in the process, a question that we at EDATV have asked Moncloa several times, and which has not been answered.

Moncloa has defended the attendance of Judith Alexandra González, Secretary General of the Presidency, at Begoña Gómez's appearance at the Assembly of Madrid. This, arguing that her presence was due to security functions.
According to Article 8 of a royal decree approved in September 2023, the Security Department of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Government supports it. This is because the government has among its responsibilities the protection of personnel and facilities of the Moncloa Complex. As well as the security of the president and other persons designated by the Directorate of the Cabinet of the Presidency, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior.

Within this group of people protected by the Presidency are the relatives of Pedro Sánchez. In this context, the government has indicated that on November 13, 2024, the General Secretariat of the Presidency performed its usual functions. This justified González's trip to the Assembly of Madrid during Gómez's appearance.
This is the convenient treatment of La Moncloa toward Begoña Gómez that they want to hide
Last November, Pedro Sánchez's wife arrived with an entire entourage at the Investigation Commission. A security cordon of the National Police awaited her upon arrival. In addition to this, she arrived escorted by Sánchez's trusted men and joined by the PSOE's Dircom.
The government puts the state's resources at the service of the wife of the Prime Minister, even though she holds no public office. Begoña Gómez is only a member of the Socialist Party, yet she enjoys government benefits as if she were a high-ranking official. But this ends when La Moncloa is asked about issues related to the president's wife and her participation in official trips, use of resources, among others.

On several occasions, we at EDATV have asked the Transparency portal about the expenses of the president's wife on official trips, or in her recent judicial investigation. When it comes to obtaining information about the benefits Begoña Gómez enjoys from the public administration, La Moncloa limits itself to saying that Begoña holds no public office. This is why, according to Moncloa, they don't provide any details of her participation in trips or official events.
The government protects all information related to the wife of the Prime Minister. So much so, that they are unable to reveal how many officials were used and how much money has been invested in the security cordons made exclusively for her.
