The Legislature renews Sánchez's brother's project amid investigation
The Court of Investigation No. 3 of the province is investigating whether the job position was created for David Sánchez
The name of David Sánchez returns to the spotlight. All after the Badajoz Legislature presented next year's budgets last Tuesday.
In November, there was no known allocation to the Ópera Joven program. The same program directed by the brother of President Pedro Sánchez. This public entity is currently under investigation by Judge Beatriz Biedma and the Central Operative Unit (UCO in Spanish) of the Civil Guard.
However, it has been revealed that the Legislature will indeed continue with Sánchez's brother's opera project. It does so despite the legal process that focuses on the creation of his job position. The Court of Investigation No. 3 of the province is investigating whether his access to the Legislature of Badajoz in 2017 as Conservatories Coordinator was legal.
In total, the administration offers 373,125 euros (308,367 without VAT) broken down in 2025 and 2026 to contract future works. According to the newspaper El Independiente, 151,859 euros will be allocated to the main opera in 2025. Meanwhile, 28,925 will be for the children-and-family opera plus another 8,264 for educational activities, totaling 189,049 for this year.
Additionally, for 2026, the Legislature offers 100,227 euros for the main tour and 19,090 for the children-and-family one. This results in 119,318, which, added to the 2025 amount, reaches 373,125 euros.
The document, accessed by EDATV, has been issued by the Contractual Management Service of the Economy, Revenue, Purchases, and Heritage Area. It explains that the Ópera Joven project has been carried out since 2019 and confirms that it will be repeated in 2025.
"An experience," as they define it, that aims to bring opera closer to the general public, but especially to young people. To raise awareness, they aim at bringing it closer and promote the world of opera to as wide an audience as possible.
The other public entity that must answer to the judge in the case of Sánchez's brother
The brother of the President, musician David Sánchez, is against the ropes. The judge investigating him for several alleged crimes has been blunt. He has concluded that everything points to a position being created exclusively for Pedro Sánchez's brother.
Judge Beatriz Biedma, head of the Court of Investigation number 3 of Badajoz, has requested Teatro Real (Royal Theater) to explain the reasons why it hired David Sánchez as an advisor. She has also requested information from La Moncloa Palace about a presidential advisor who performed functions as David Sánchez's secretary.
These proceedings have been agreed upon in reply to a series of requests submitted by popular accusations, including the Manos Limpias (clean hands) union. The judicial resolution comes after the Provincial Court of Badajoz has ratified the judge's action for the second time. This allowed the investigation to continue and rejected its dismissal.
According to El Debate, David Sánchez was hired as an advisor to Teatro Real at a time when public funding to the institution experienced an increase. The management of Teatro Real has argued that this budget increase was due to the installation of photovoltaic panels on the building's roofs. They also assure that it was unrelated to Sánchez's incorporation.
The judge, who is investigating the brother of the President, has requested the theater to explain the reasons for his hiring. Additionally, to detail the salary he receives for his work as an advisor.
She has also requested information from the La Moncloa about Luis María Carrero Pérez. He is an official who worked at the presidential headquarters and currently holds a key position as David Sánchez's assistant at the Legislature de Badajoz.
These requests are part of the ongoing investigation, aiming to clarify possible irregularities in the hiring of the President's brother.
