Catalá Strengthens Valencia's Cleaning During Fallas

València City Council has increased the budget for the special cleaning operation for the Fallas by 15%.

The València City Council has increased the budget for the special cleaning operation for the Fallas by 15%, with an investment of 3.15M euros. The operation runs from March 1 to 23 and includes more human and technical resources to ensure cleanliness during one of the city's most attended festivals.

The Councilor for Cleaning and Waste Collection, Carlos Mundina, highlighted the economic and human effort made by the council, which will mobilize 51 multipurpose teams in the morning, afternoon, and night between March 14 and 19. These teams, which include vans and dump trucks, will be responsible for collecting waste and small items. Additionally, workers with portable backpacks containing disinfectant and deodorant will be deployed to access hard-to-reach areas.

The staff reinforcement has increased by 4.3% compared to 2024, with 11,913 workdays planned. Between March 15 and 19, there will be a daily reinforcement of between 414 and 448 workers. On Saint Joseph's Day, there will be 470% more staff compared to the rest of the week, thanks to 537 new contracts and 102 contract modifications.

The operation also includes the relocation of 2,210 containers of 3,200 liters, the placement of 485 additional containers of 1,000 liters, and the delivery of 347 metal containers to the Fallas commissions for ash collection, 66% more than in 2024.

Additionally, 700 pairs of trash cans, 410 WC cabins, 90 adapted cabins, and 88 portable urinals will be installed in 220 locations. During the weekend of March 7 to 9, there will be 20 specific points with portable urinals to facilitate public access.

Mundina has appealed to civility and citizen collaboration to keep the city clean during the Fallas, which are expected to attract a large influx of tourists and visitors.
