Boadilla del Monte pays tribute to the Police Intervention Units
The roundabout, inaugurated by Mayor Javier Úbeda and the Director General of Police, highlights the UIP's commitment to security and public order.
The mayor of Boadilla del Monte, Javier Úbeda, and the general director of the Police, Francisco Pardo Piqueras, presided over the inauguration of the Unidades de Intervención Policial roundabout today, located at the intersection of Monte Romanillos and Monte Olivar streets, in the La Cárcava area.
This initiative, approved by the Town Council, coincides with the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the creation of the National Police and seeks to recognize the effort of these units in protecting order and security, especially in large events, emergency situations, and disasters.
The event was attended by authorities such as the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Susana Crisóstomo, members of the Municipal Corporation, deputies of the Madrid Assembly, representatives of other municipalities, and police commanders.
During the ceremony, a commemorative plaque was unveiled on the central monolith of the roundabout, and tribute was paid to the National Police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
In his speech, Mayor Javier Úbeda highlighted the municipality's gratitude toward the Unidades de Intervención Policial (UIP) for their "commitment and professionalism, which guarantee coexistence, security, and freedom for all." He also emphasized the importance of security as the foundation for exercising rights and freedoms: "Without security, there's no freedom, no development, no justice."
Úbeda recalled the actions taken by the Town Council to strengthen security in the municipality, including a 46% increase in the Local Police force since 2011, a growth exceeding the 42% of the population in the same period. He also highlighted the construction of the Integrated Security Center, the renewal of the police fleet, the transfer of vehicles to the Civil Guard and SEPRONA, as well as investment in technologies such as the canine unit, drones, and a video surveillance system at the municipality's entrances.
"Boadilla is one of the most secure municipalities in Spain thanks to the effort of our officers and the constant commitment to security," concluded the mayor.
