The Huge Shock Movistar Customers Get: It's Not What They Expected
Movistar warns its customers about the need to be wary of certain messages they may receive
Many Movistar customers have received an email message that has caused surprise but also great concern. In that communication, users of the telephone company are informed that they can receive a free Samsung S23 just by answering a few simple questions. However, what seemed to be an attractive offer is actually a phishing scam attempt.
According to the portal InfoVeritas, the email includes a message promising to give away a mobile phone just for completing a questionnaire.
The text in question says, "This Samsung S23 from Movistar is free for you. All you need to do is answer some questions about us." Additionally, a button with a link to claim the prize is included.

This seemingly harmless offer is just a facade for a phishing attack. It aims to steal users' personal and financial information.
Movistar Is Affected by These Scams
The scam begins when the user clicks on the link included in the email. Instead of being redirected to an official Movistar page, the link leads to an unknown website. It also attempts to create a sense of urgency.
On this page, the user is warned that the prize will be available only "throughout today." They are pressured to act quickly without thinking too much.
The next step in this phishing is the request for a questionnaire, which seems like a simple formality to access the prize. However, once completed, they are informed that they must pay two euros to receive the Samsung S23.

Next, they are asked to fill out a form with personal and banking information. This is exactly what the criminals need to carry out identity theft.
This type of scam is extremely dangerous. If someone falls for the scam, they could lose access to their bank accounts, suffer unauthorized charges or even be a victim of identity fraud. Therefore, it is essential that Movistar customers remain alert to this type of scam attempt.
Movistar Warns What You Should Do
If you receive a similar email, never click on the links or share your personal information. In case of doubt, it is best to contact Movistar directly through their official customer service channels. They can confirm whether the message is legitimate or if it is a scam.
Large companies will never ask for sensitive information by email, such as banking details or passwords. It must be said that digital scams are on the rise, and it is crucial that users are cautious when receiving offers that are too good to be true. Movistar, like other operators, has clear policies to prevent data theft, but users must also be vigilant not to fall for these tricks.
