TARS Design wins the prestigious award for best stand at Fitur 2025
Canary Islands wins the award for the best stand in the category of Institutions and Autonomous Communities at FITUR 2025
The design and events studio TARS Design has achieved outstanding international recognition after its project for the Canary Islands won the award for the best stand in the category of Institutions and Autonomous Communities at FITUR 2025, Spain's most important tourism fair and one of the world's leading ones.
The project, which competed among 806 exhibitors from 152 countries and regions, stands out for its innovative design that combines functionality, sustainability, and visual spectacularity. With an area of 1,768 square meters (19,029 square feet), 15% more than in the previous edition, the stand has become the largest in its pavilion at IFEMA in Madrid.
Among the most notable elements of the design is an impressive roof that evokes the orography of the Canary archipelago, complemented by a state-of-the-art LED lighting system that simulates the movement of the trade winds. The space incorporates a central videowall in the form of a portico that shows the natural light transitions of the islands, integrated into more than 600 square meters (6,458 square feet) of graphic supports.
Sustainability has been an essential pillar in the design. The TARS Design team has opted for materials such as sustainably sourced natural poplar for the roofs, whose carbon footprint is offset by the planting of new trees. The furniture, made from recycled plastic from fishing nets and marine debris, reflects a strong commitment to the circular economy. The structure has also been designed to be easily disassembled and stackable, optimizing its transport and reducing its environmental impact.
The project is especially noteworthy considering that TARS Design completed the construction in record time, overcoming the adversities caused by the recent DANA that severely affected its facilities.
The functionality of the space is reflected in specialized areas that include a conference area with a capacity for 120 people, 16 tables for interviews with media, and versatile spaces for business and enogastronomic activities. The integration of a green area with more than 200 natural plants complements the visitor's sensory experience.
The Minister of Employment and Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jéssica de León, has especially highlighted the work of TARS Design in achieving this award, which positions the Valencian studio as a benchmark in the design of innovative and sustainable exhibition spaces.
