Google's Blow to the 'Progressives': Removes Pride Month from Its Calendar
The tech giant delivers an unexpected blow to the 'woke' ideology
Google has decided to remove various cultural anniversaries from its Google Calendar application, such as Pride Month. Also, Black History Month and Women's History Month. The company argues that this measure, implemented in a recent update, aims to simplify event management on the platform and make it more efficient.
A company spokesperson explained to the media PinkNews that, in recent years, Google had been manually adding a wide range of celebrations and commemorations in different countries. However, due to the difficulty of maintaining a balance in the representation of all cultural events globally, the system became unsustainable.
The Tremendous Turn of Google
Starting in mid-2024, Google Calendar will only show holidays and national celebrations collected through the portal timeanddate.com. Nevertheless, users will still have the option to manually add those events they consider important.
Google Takes a Step Back in Its Woke Policies
The removal of these events from the calendar is not the only measure that has caused controversy. The company also announced that it will end its goals of hiring staff belonging to minorities, thus joining a growing trend in the corporate world.
Tech giants like Amazon and Meta have made similar decisions, leaving aside initiatives that sought to impose the woke ideology in their work teams.

This wave of changes in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies comes in a political context marked by strong opposition to these initiatives, especially in the United States. President Donald Trump has openly criticized these strategies, calling them "unnecessary and costly."
Additionally, one of his recent measures included the order to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. An adjustment that Google Maps has implemented, although it is only visible in the U.S., according to the BBC.
Major Companies Move Away from 'Wokism'
The shift in Google's stance is not an isolated case. In recent months, major brands like Walmart, Ford, Lowe's, Harley-Davidson, and Jack Daniel's have reduced or eliminated their "diversity" programs, thus responding to pressure from conservative sectors.
One of the main drivers of this movement has been political analyst Robby Starbuck, who has led a campaign for large corporations to abandon their commitments to 'wokism'.
Recently, McDonald's also announced its intention to adjust its strategy in terms of "diversity," joining this new direction that the business world is taking. These changes reflect a paradigm shift in the corporate sphere, where priorities seem to be shifting toward more traditional models.
