The Look That Saved William's Brother-in-Law's Life

James Middleton recalls a critical episode in his memoir, recently published in paperback. In 2017, he climbed up to the roof of his house intending to end it all. It was Ella, his cocker spaniel, who with a single look anchored him to life.

"There are reasons to stay alive," he reflects, remembering that freezing early morning. "The only thing I would've done would've been to pass my pain on to other people," he admits. William's brother-in-law's words strike deep and connect with those who've felt the same.

His testimony is an invitation to understand mental health from the most human perspective. "I'm not cured of depression," he confesses clearly. "You'll never be able to cure mental health problems because they exist constantly."

Unconditional Support and Second Chances

Family support was key in his recovery process. "Their presence meant I knew I was surrounded by people who truly understood what I was going through," he says about his sisters Kate and Pippa. They even accompanied him to therapy sessions.

Diagnosed with ADHD and clinical depression, James underwent intensive therapy for two years. He states that this process is what allowed him to recover his identity. "That's when I became James Middleton again."

He also remembers his fear of being judged: "I was afraid they'd call me an impostor if I spoke about my depression." Yet, he did, turning his pain into strength for others. An act of courage that deserves to be heard.

Rebirth With Hope and Accepting Daily Challenges

Today, James is the father of a young child and lives a simple and honest life. "I still have challenges: we're renegotiating our mortgage, we have bills to pay," he shares calmly. "But we accept all this, trying to see the positive."

James Middleton spoke about how the family faced Prince William's wife's cancer. "I think as a family we learn to see, process, and understand things," he explained. He added: "It's about communicating and offering support and always helping whenever we can."

With his story, James Middleton not only breaks stigmas. He also shows that, even in the most formal environments, there's room for truth and compassion.
