Orange's warning: it's activated by default and you might get a shock on your bill

Orange sends a message to those who run out of data early and wish to continue browsing at maximum speed

Orange has issued an important alert for its customers using the Más Megas service. This service, which allows you to continue browsing at maximum speed after exhausting the megabytes included in your contract plan, is activated by default. If you're not careful, you might be surprised by your bill.

They explain that this service is automatically activated when you exceed the megabytes included in your contract plan. Instead of reducing your connection speed to 16 kb/s, they allow you to continue browsing at maximum speed. However, at an additional cost of 2 euros for each 100 MB segment.

It's important to note that this service guarantees you a faster connection. But it can also cause your bill to skyrocket if you don't manage it well. Orange, aware of this risk, has implemented several measures for users to better manage their consumption.

How to control Orange's Más Megas service

Orange will send SMS notifications to users every time the Más Megas service is activated or deactivated. But also when a new 100 MB segment is reached. Additionally, the operator will inform you about the cost caused by this service so you can be aware of your consumption at all times.

It's important to know that the Más Megas service can be used up to a maximum of 30 extensions per billing cycle. This means that if you exceed your limit, you could end up paying a quite high amount if you don't manage your consumption well.

If you prefer not to use the Más Megas service and save on your bill, you have several options to deactivate it. The easiest way is to access your customer area on Orange's website or through the mobile app. There, you can deactivate the service at any time.

If you prefer to do it quickly, you can also send a free message to the number 1470. If you wish to deactivate the service, you should write BAJADA. Meanwhile, if you're interested in activating the service, you should write SUBIDA and send it to the same number.

This Más Megas service is available for most of Orange's contract plans. But it is not compatible with Love plans, which offer an alternative option of bonuses called FlexiGB. These bonuses allow you to manage data consumption flexibly without needing to activate the Más Megas service.

What happens if you don't manage Orange's service well?

If you don't manage the Más Megas service properly, you could end up with a higher bill than expected. In some cases, users may consume several 100 MB segments in a short time, which would increase their bill's cost.

This is why it's crucial to pay attention to the alerts Orange sends via SMS and keep an eye on the amount of megabytes consumed. If you prefer not to take risks, you can always choose to deactivate the service and, if you need more data, select a bonus suitable for your use.
