Mario Picazo already warns of rain and a DANA for the weekend: in these areas
In several parts of Spanish territory, significant rainfall may still occur on Saturday and Sunday.
Spain has experienced days marked by persistent rain in much of the country, brought by successive storms that have arrived. Everything points to the weather situation starting to stabilize from Friday, but not all regions will be able to say farewell to the rain.
Mario Picazo has warned that in some areas the bad weather will continue, stating "don't put away the umbrella in these areas." The weekend will still be marked by rain, snow, and wind in certain parts of the country.
Storm Ivo moves away, but wind and instability persist
Storm Ivo, which on Thursday kept much of Spain under red, orange, and yellow warnings for rain, snow, and wind, will retreat. It will do so gradually over the next 24 hours. However, calm will not be immediate.
The wind will continue to blow strongly at least until this Friday, especially on the coast of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. Mario Picazo warns that intense gusts will still be recorded before the storm begins to subside over the weekend.
Where it will continue to rain and snow next weekend
Meanwhile, although Ivo moves away, the arrival of a new storm descending from north to south toward the Cantabrian and the passage of a cold front will maintain cloudiness and precipitation. Mario Picazo warns that it will be various regions, mainly in the northern third of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands.
Not only this, on Saturday the formation of a small DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) is expected. This will enter from the northeast and move toward the Balearic Islands.
According to Mario Picazo's forecasts, this meteorological phenomenon could bring showers and storms in the Balearic archipelago, as well as on the coasts of Catalonia and the Valencian Community. On Sunday, the precipitation could extend sporadically to some areas of the interior of the peninsula.
The precipitation will continue to especially affect the north of the Peninsula, where rain and snow will continue to be present in the last days of the week. In Galicia, the Cantabrian coast, and the Pyrenees, the passage of the front will leave moderate rain and snow at relatively low altitudes.
On Sunday, moreover, the rain could extend to some points of the interior of the peninsula, although more sporadically. Mario Picazo also forecasts precipitation in the Canary Islands, which could reach some islands in the form of scattered showers.
When will definitive stability arrive?
Despite the weather outlook showing some improvement with Ivo's retreat, there is still some instability before the weather completely stabilizes. The beginning of next week could bring a calmer situation in much of Spain, with an increase in high pressure and a decrease in precipitation.
However, experts recommend staying alert to forecasts, as winter is still in full swing and changes in the atmosphere can bring new surprises.
